Broadband phone service – Now save a lot on your international calls.

The Internet era continues to produce a lot of innovative ways to make life simpler for us. As all of us would agree, the tremendous leap of transformation that Internet has introduced helped mankind over the past couple of decades is through communications. Before, getting in touch with family, friends and loved ones take days. Snail mail has been the primary source of communication that linked mankind over the years. Though the telephone has always been there, people still find it cheaper and more personal to send and receive greeting cards or pictures through mail rather than talk it out over the phone. That was then.

But now, everything seems to be very easy to communicate and express our thoughts through the use of e-mail, Instant Message, e-cards, webcam and other online communication media. All we need is a computer and an Internet connection, and then everything seems to be possible. How about receiving phone calls over a broadband Internet connection instead of an analog phone line? Yes! You heard it right. This is made possible through the broadband phone service, better known as Voice Over Internet Protocol or Voip.

Broadband phone service through Voip is a technology that makes it possible to transmit voice information without the use of the regular (analog) telephone system. It converts analog voice signals to digital data, which can then be transmitted over the Internet. It’s like you have a broadband connection and phone line service rolled into one. The most advantage that broadband phone service can provide is that a person can call anyone, either it be a local, international, long distance or mobile number without paying extra charges or fees. However, this may also depend on the plan or subscription that the Voip service offers. There are a lot of broadband phone service providers around like Vonage and AT&T are to name a few. Aside from this, Voip also includes in its package some of the following features: voice mail, caller ID, call forwarding and three-way calling.

On the other hand, Voip also has its own imperfections. One is that Voip may not work during power outages. In addition, Voip service providers do not offer white listings and provide directory assistance. And the most crucial part is some broadband phone service providers do not connect directly to emergency assistance through 9-1-1.
